Would you like to dive Silver Springs?
For a few years at the end of the Eisenhower administration Hollywood legend Lloyd Bridges used the once gin-clear output of Silver Springs as the set for a TV show based on a scuba diver. Over 155 episodes of the adventure series “Sea Hunt” — more than 100 of which were filmed at Silver Springs — Bridges portrayed Mike Nelson, a one-time Navy frogman who in the space of 30 minutes, as the online version of Skin Diver magazine once noted, “got into trouble, got out of trouble, rescued a damsel, caught the bad guys and neatly wrapped things up with a safety message.” Now that Silver Springs is slated to become a state park, and enticing ecotourists is viewed as a must, a drive is on to open up the waterway … Read entire article »

Morry the Great White discovered in Morrison Springs, Florida
Today, the Morrison Spring Divetalking Shark has been found and reported. Here is the text that accompanied the email: [singlepic id=849 w=320 h=240 float=center] “On a dive yesterday to look for the yet to be named shark Melissa and I had placed in the small cavern. We had no luck and figured someone found it and took it home. After leaving that cavern and while setting the line up to enter the main cavern I swam right by the shark and Brooke spotted it right away. Someone has removed both Divetalking.com wrist bands, so maybe they will contact you about the find. So after finding it on the first dive we brought her back in and signed it and returned the Morrisons Shark to new hiding spot somewhere in the diving area. … Read entire article »

Paradise Springs Dec 17, 2011
Today I visited Paradise Springs. I arrive at 7:55 to find the gate open. I drive up to the house to check in. I am asked “Do you have a dive buddy?” I answer ‘No.’ I am now told no solo diving in Paradise Springs. Bong! After a 2.5 hour drive, I can’t be the first in the water to take pictures, before it gets all silted up. So what do I do? I wait for other divers to arrive and while waiting, I get suited up in the dry suit, finish setting up the camera and chat with the owner. Then, at last, a vehicle with two divers drive up. I jump in my truck and head down at the site before the owner could blink. It takes me about … Read entire article »
