Solicite for Blackbeard as Jacksonvilles Newest 2010 Artificial Reef

I see the Jacksonville Offshore Fishing Club soliciting to have Blackbeard placed offshore Jacksonville, Florida as an artificial reef. Now that the cat is out. This is one of our next hopefulls. About one month ago, a team went to visit Blackbeard. I took video and pictures, while others surveyed the vessel. She’s in really great shape considering her age. Built back in the latter 1950’s, she served Mayport as a ferry to suttle motoriized vessles from one side of the St. Johns to the other. Today she sits and has been sitting for a number of years at the Green Cove docks along the intercoastal.  Here is a post from a member of the Jacksonville Offshore Fishing Club, JOSFC. http://www.firstcoastangler.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/topic/213/gonew/1.html We need your support and donations. You may visit www.TISIRI.org for more … Read entire article »

Maybe attend a bull fight or just shop. Sunday morning packup and head to Mahahual where the pristine sands, culture and ocean view succumbs one in majesty. Sunday afternoon diving, Monday diving, beaching, site seeing, what ever pleases me. Monday is a day of diving at some of the most pristine sites you may ever see. I will be carrying my  underwater videography equipment. Can’t wait to see the video(s). Tuesday morning, one more dive and checking out heading to Playa Del Carmen. Spending Tuesday through Thursday diving the cenotes and various sites off shore. One of the cenotes contains … Read entire article »

Diving Memorial Weekend, 2010

I will be heading to Ginnie Springs Memorial weekend, May 31, 2010. My plans are to just relax. Dive when I feel like diving. I plan on filming to get use to the new camera, housing and lights. I believe the place may be packed with tubers. It’s too early to tell what the weather will be like that three day weekend. We can only hope for SUNNY days. I also plan on camping one night, Saturday night. Arrive at 9AM Saturday, depart when ever Sunday. Who knows, maybe I’ll spend two nights. I sure hope it’s not too hot at night. I wonder if I should carry a fan. There is electricity and water at each camp site. I’ll let you know how it turns out after the memorial weekend is … Read entire article »

Sea Sick

Who reading this gets sea sick? I do and it stinks. I love to dive and I love diving and have been diving one score +13 years at this point and as much as I get sea sick, I love diving. So here’s what I’ve tried. I’ve tried Meclizine How should I take meclizine? Use this medication exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Take meclizine with a full glass of water. The chewable tablet may be swallowed whole, crushed, or chewed. To prevent motion sickness, take meclizine about 1 hour before you travel or engage in activity that causes motion sickness. You may take meclizine once every 24 hours while you are traveling, to further prevent motion sickness. Follow … Read entire article »

Videography Tips and Techniques

Issue 1 Tip 5 Editing So you purchased all the fancy camera stuff and you’ve taken some video and you’re watching it looking at all the horrible things gone wrong. It’s Blairwitch all over again. OK, good thing you purchased editing software. Maybe you can edit out the good shots and throw away all the other junk. So which editing software should you buy? Well, that’s all personal preference of course. Software cost money. For example if you want to use Apples Final Cut Pro, you’ll need an Apple Computer. You can buy, like I did, software from the manufacture of your camera. My HD Video Camera is a Sony HDR-HC9 so I chose to buy Sony Vegas Pro 64bit on Windows 7. I also purchased … Read entire article »
