Interested in diving related field work?
If you live in or near the NE corner of Florida and you are or have been interested in the field or research, oceanography, data collection, artificial reefs, reef monitoring and more, there are a couple of groups you may be interested in checking out. First there is the Jacksonville Reef Research Team, JRRT. Members of the team who have passed the course may dive offshore to collect data, monitoring the artificial reefs that have been placed offshore Jacksonville. Other duties performed by JRRT is Pre-Deployment and post-deployment surveys. Throughout the year, JRRT members meet at least once a month and during the Spring, Summer and Fall months, dive offshore Jacksonville as much as possible. JRRT web site may be found at jaxrrt.org or by clicking here > JRRT
Another organization spawned due to the complexity and time management of building new reefs is TIRISI which stands for Think It Sink It Reef It. TISIRI assists in the logistics of placing artificial reef, coordination all parties into a single source helping the process of acquiring resources, such as material, people and money as well as working with officials at all levels to make the process a smoother process for all.
