Diving Memorial Weekend, 2010

I will be heading to Ginnie Springs Memorial weekend, May 31, 2010.

My plans are to just relax. Dive when I feel like diving. I plan on filming to get use to the new camera, housing and lights. I believe the place may be packed with tubers. It’s too early to tell what the weather will be like that three day weekend. We can only hope for SUNNY days. I also plan on camping one night, Saturday night. Arrive at 9AM Saturday, depart when ever Sunday. Who knows, maybe I’ll spend two nights. I sure hope it’s not too hot at night. I wonder if I should carry a fan. There is electricity and water at each camp site. I’ll let you know how it turns out after the memorial weekend is over.

Updating this post. It appears I am evaluating a DiveMaster in their Discover Scuba Diving DiveMaster qualifications Saturday. Then I get to relax and shoot some video.

I arrived just at 8am with two of 6 divers. David shows up about 15 minutes later with four more divers. I am here to evaluate David for his qualification to conduct Discover Scuba Diving, DSD as a PADI Dive Master. David completed all requisits for the program and will be applying for his designation. Congratulations David. I took the time after the DSD was finished to dive with one of the newly certified divers. We floated around the basin and went into the cavern about to the first drop off. Then out. After about 30 minutes, we swam back to shore. A little while later, David said he wanted to go down to the grid inside Ginnie Springs. I setup for a third dive for the day. 25 minutes later, we finished the dive and hung out a few hours as students and divers began to leave.

I made it back to the Cadillac Hotel in High Springs for the night. I felt I slept like a log. Sunday I woke up to sunshine. I head to Ginnie Springs for some more diving. Since yesterday was nice, maybe a dozen divers all day, the spring was clear. I figured Sunday would be nice and in fact I was the first and only diver in the springs by 9am. I head down with video camera in hand and shot about 20 minutes of video. I cleaned up, and left Ginnie at around 11am. I headed to Fleetwood Diner. The new diner that took ofer the place when it use to be called Floyds for brunch.

A wonderful weekend. I’m so relaxed I’m tired.. lol

PADI MSDT - I've been a diver for over 33 years. I became an instructor because I want to be creditable and able to transfer my knowledge and skills to newer divers. Beside, it cuts down on the expense of diving. NOT! My Motto: First in, Last out
