I placed this post out under PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) Discussion Topics area this morning. Why are Instructors excluded from being a choice for students to select when registering/signing up elearning? a few years ago, PICs were available online except for Instructors. Now elearning is online and ALL Teaching Status Instructors are not listed as a contact for the prospective student. Take the total number of Teaching Status Instructors there are in the database. Divide the number of IRRAs into that number and tell me if the quotent is a realistic number? That number represents the number of instructors / IRRA. It’s over a 100 instructors / IRRA. What is the average number of Instructors / IRRA? Perhaps 10. Why is there such a deviation between the two numbers? Now, take that difference, … Read entire article »

June 18 – 21 2010 Grand Bahamas trip

The trip began at 6pm Thursday June 17th. Picking up Jason and Tara, owners of Scubaextreme dive shop in Middleburg, Florida, we start the trip down to Ft. Lauderdale. We stop about 30 miles North of Ft. Lauderdale to spend the night at a friends home. Up and out the door by 6am Friday morning to continue our route to Port Everglades to catch our boat to the Bahamas. Grand Bahamas is the destination this day. We hopped, skipped and jumped to our boat. OK, some walked. Discovery Cruise Lines was our carrier. A pretty cool boat. The passage ways wind and do not follow the same path on either side. You will have to walk outside and take ladders up as you find them. I lost more than 1/2 our guest the … Read entire article »

Mahahaul, Mexico

Here is a map of the trip I am planning. It starts in Cancun Mexico August 2010. Arrive Friday spending Saturday in Cancun. Spend the day on the beach or in old Cancun. Maybe attend a bull fight or just shop. Sunday morning packup and head to Mahahual where the pristine sands, culture and ocean view succumbs one in majesty. Sunday afternoon diving, Monday diving, beaching, site seeing, what ever pleases me. Monday is a day of diving at some of the most pristine sites you may ever see. I will be carrying my  underwater videography equipment. Can’t wait to see the video(s). Tuesday morning, one more dive and checking out heading to Playa Del Carmen. Spending Tuesday through Thursday diving the cenotes and various sites off shore. One of the cenotes contains … Read entire article »

Diving Memorial Weekend, 2010

I will be heading to Ginnie Springs Memorial weekend, May 31, 2010. My plans are to just relax. Dive when I feel like diving. I plan on filming to get use to the new camera, housing and lights. I believe the place may be packed with tubers. It’s too early to tell what the weather will be like that three day weekend. We can only hope for SUNNY days. I also plan on camping one night, Saturday night. Arrive at 9AM Saturday, depart when ever Sunday. Who knows, maybe I’ll spend two nights. I sure hope it’s not too hot at night. I wonder if I should carry a fan. There is electricity and water at each camp site. I’ll let you know how it turns out after the memorial weekend is … Read entire article »

Paradise Springs, Ocala Florida

Today, Saturday May 8th, I and a friend drove to Paradise Springs in Ocala. We met up with Gerold (Jerry) from Divebuddy. There were a number others who announced they wanted to go, but didn’t make it. It was nice. I was the first at the site. We signed in and drove over to get our best spot and began unloading and preparing to be the first to enter the water while the visibility was good. Dave and I went in along with Michael, who drove out and surprised me being there. We scoured around the place finding a number of figurines tucked in glooves or placed on shelves. I notice on the ceiling what appeared to be ribbon from the formation above. I also noticed that it went around this one hugh piece … Read entire article »
