DEMA, Orlando Nov. 2009
I will be at DEMA Nov. 5 – 7, 2009.
Thursday and Friday am, I will be participating in continued education
sessions with PADI. Friday afternoon I am participating in the SDI/TDI
crossover. Saturday am, concluding my ConEd sessions then onto the
floor from 11am – when I walk out.
Spent my first day at DEMA today Thursday November 5th.
My day started at 3:15AM, cleaned up and drove to Orlando.
My first seminar: Risk Management from 9am – 10am
The second seminar: Survival Training from 10am – 12am
(I thought the subject was survival training as in Save your butt)
It was survival in the market.. I still learned something, that’s
gotta be a good thing.
The third seminar was an unofficial visit to a room where the subject
was the extinction of the Leather back turtle. I stayed, it was
interesting. They say we went from 10 Million leatherbacks
around 20-30 years ago down to, check this out 800 remaining.
The cause, long line fishing and netting.
The third offical seminar was: Securing Shark Protection from 3pm-4pm
The fourth seminar was: PADI Standards from 4pm – 5pm.
Both the PADI Standards and the Risk Management were required
for ConEd credit.
Fridays schedule just got easier, 1pm – 5pm SDI/TDI Crossover.
—
Just completed the SDI/TDI Crossover. Al l that’s left is sending in the
remaining paperwork. Essentually I’ve crossed over, just administrative
work remaining.
Saturday Nov. 7, 2009. I walked the floor today. First stop was Zeagle
to talk about referbing my 911. Then on to Atomic Aquatics. I found Darcy
working the area. Hi Darcy… love and miss you and always my pleasure to
see you. Then onto the TDI/SDI booth. I was provided with my SDI
Instructor material. Once TDI/SDI receive the remaining paperwork,
Proof of # of certs, etc. they will process my TDI Instructor certs. Met a few
friends along the way. Friends from Dallas, friends from Jacksonville and the
keys. Stopped by Nekton Cruises booth.
Met a gentleman from Puerto Rico who owns Atlantis Dive, located on the West
side of PR. We kept running into each other and He and Darcy know each other
as well. Small world. I hope to visit his shop one day, soon.
I had a pretty good time overall.
I finished with a trip to Egypt. Not literally a trip to Egypt, but the booth
describing diving in Egypt. All I will say is OMG! I’m going.
