DUNNELLON – KP Hole Park’s swimming area has reopened just in time for the busy Labor Day holiday weekend.
The swimming area, at 9435 S.W. 190th Ave. Road in Dunnellon, was closed last week after tests conducted by the Marion County Health Department showed higher than standard levels of fecal bacteria.
Tubing and scuba diving was still permitted as those activities are done in deeper water.
Johnny Thompson, spokesman for the health department, said he had heard of complaints from Orlando residents that drove to the park over the weekend to find yellow caution tape around the beach area.
The health department tests local waterways twice a month during the summer.
