{"id":4086,"date":"2011-08-09T08:46:16","date_gmt":"2011-08-09T12:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.divetalking.com\/?p=4086"},"modified":"2011-08-09T08:47:44","modified_gmt":"2011-08-09T12:47:44","slug":"4086","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.divetalking.com\/?p=4086","title":{"rendered":"Orange goo washing ashore in Alaska is egg mass, scientists say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) &#8211; A mysterious orange goo that washed ashore in an Alaska village last week and sparked pollution concerns turns out to be a mass of crustacean eggs or embryos, government scientists said on Monday.<br \/>\nTests of a sample sent by the  Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation produced the results,  officials at a laboratory belonging to the National Oceanic and  Atmospheric Administration&#8217;s Alaska Fisheries Service Center said.<\/p>\n<p>[singlepic id=313 w=640 h=280 float=]<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We now think these are some sort of small crustacean egg or embryo, with the lipid oil droplet in the middle causing the orange color,&#8221; Jeep Rice, a lead scientist at the Juneau laboratory, said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So this is natural.
